NEEDING TO REHOME YOUR PET?
Relinquishing your pet to an animal shelter should always be a last resort option.
Depending on the reason you're choosing to rehome your pet will determine the next steps.
Are you having issues training your pet? Lack of resources? Unable to provide medical care?
Our goal is to keep families together so let us provide tips, resources and assistance to help keep your pet with its' family and avoid the stress of being in an animal shelter.
Although we do understand life can present unavoidable emergencies or life changing events that prevent you from caring for a pet, you should exhaust all options before choosing to relinquish your pet(s) to an animal shelter.
Please visit Rehome.AdoptAPet.com, reach out to family members, friends and utilize all social media platforms to help you find a new home and loving family for your pet. If you feel you have reached us as a last resort, Carter county residents can relinquish their pet(s) for a fee of $35 or $50.
Please reach out to our intake team at (580)223-7070 to schedule an appointment and for more information.

Are we a no-kill animal shelter?

To be considered a no-kill animal shelter, a shelter must have a 90% save rate; unfortunately, we have not reached "no-kill" status, as we have an 80% save rate. Although we try our best to find a loving home for every animal that walks through our doors, sadly we cannot make guarantees when it comes to our ability to rehome every animal. There are many factors that affect an animal being at risk for euthanasia; health, behavior and space being the top 3.
This is why we urge owners to take the responsibility of rehoming their pet(s), practice responsible pet ownership and most importantly, promote the importance of spaying and neutering.
